Whilst working for not-for-profit company the ‘Tenancy Deposit Scheme’, I was required to redesign all of the business’s exhibition signage – the most important being for the annual ARLA Conference in London.
This was happening during the company rebrand so I had to plan ahead for what was to come to ensure the company looked professional, and their branding consistent.
Branding Re-Design
The new look was all about simple vector illustration which reflected their blue and green colour palette.
The plan for the website restructure was to create a 'TDS Lounge'. This area would provide a hub to include everything a tentant, landlord or agent could need in terms of documents, guides and assistance if required.
This design was the perfect choice to recreate at the conference.
Design Elements
TDS needed a new piece of literature which would simply and efficiently guide their customers through the deposit scheme process.
They, however, had two types of schemes, which applied to both landlords and agents – which could have meant generating four separate leaflets.
I thought about it carefully and decided to create only two documents, aimed at each of our audiences, and built them so that each document was flippable, ensuring both scheme options were presented to both types of customer.
In order to blend the real furniture in with the vector illustrated background, I opted to create two large printed stickers which were applied to the cupboard doors. This was effective and provided the team which much needed storage for literature and merchandise.
TDS wanted to host a competition to win a Red Letter Days gift certificate. We decided to create a frame which would encourage visitors to come onto our stand and take their photo. They would enter the competition by uploading that picture to social media and tagging the company. This was great for getting people chatting, both in-person and online.
Animated Presentation
Finally, we needed to have some motion content on our stand to tell people about the range of services that TDS offer. With a perfect spot for a television above the sofa, the TDS lounge was completed with an animated Powerpoint presentation that ran for the duration of the conference. This was again styled using the same vector illustrations as the rest of the stand, and captured attention using simple moving graphics.
The Result
The conference was a hit and both the team and visitors were excited by the new interactive TDS lounge.
Many leads were generated that day, and we received a large number of entries into the competition, to which we saw a big increase of our social media engagement during this time.
The TDS CEO was even interviewed on-camera in the middle of the stand which made a great impression on viewers.
